Pete and the Pirates have split
According to Marc Riley on the 6Music show last night. Sad news, one of my favourite bands of recent years. Little Death is amazing, and 1,000 whilst more patchy has it's moments. Also a cracking live band.

That's a real shame.
they're a good bunch of lads, who on their day wrote some cracking songs. second album didn't do it for me though :(

I played a gig with them once right at the beginning of their existence
and I really liked them. Nice guys. Then followed them a bit as they got bigger. They were well good. Nice mix between trendy cool and totally geeky.
Shame really.
-
^ pretty much exactly this
The first album is great, was never sure where they could go from there though.
-
Loved the debut and the 2nd lp
I thought they took a brave step with the 2nd lp that would translate to more success with 6Music daytime etc.. Obviously didn't pay off.
Cracking live as well. Thanks for the music lads....
-
Shame,
They had a really good name too.
-
Although they have split
Most of the same members are in a new band called Teleman who are a goodie too and sound fairly similar to my ears.

Little Death is definitely one of the best indie albums of the last 10 years for me.
-
sad news. Loved the 2nd album more to be honest.
Perfect for full volume singalong motorway driving.
-
such a shame
brilliant band
perfect hooks:(
-
the lead guitarist & a guy from The Yummy Fur
now play in a band called The 3.1419 Wonders
im sure the Sanders brothers will be back in some shape or form soon enough
-
If anyone reading this has not heard the last album
then - whilst I agree with whats said above - I'd say that its is still worth checking out, because there are some great tracks on it.
-
dreadful name
so I judged a book by its cover.
-
The second album is amazing
Was my pick of 2011. Washing Powder is a stone cold classic. Ace live as well.
Teleman do indeed sound very similar so all is not lost.
-
I'm surprised its taken so long for a public annoucement.
Pete (guitar) apart from being a new band The 3.149 Wonders also now runs a great cafe in Reading http://www.theshedcafe.co.uk/
