Shame, promising album, new song sounds good too.

Behind the scenes right now one of the <<money men>> he talks about
are planning to sign Holy Esque, change their name to WU LYF and claim that it's not about the members of the band, it's about the feeling, WORLD UNITE etc. etc.
-
booooo
really enjoyed Go Tell Fire to the Mountain

A very small part of me thinks this is bullshit
The thing with WU LYF is that on paper they always seem pretentious and contrived, but they're perfectly genuine people in reality. However, I can imagine them doing something like this as a stunt. I won't be too surprised if they churn out a new record next year.
However, this is exactly the kind of thing I envisage pissing them off. They always said they were only going to record three records and then call it quits, but I guess they just lost faith. A real shame, Go Tell Fire... was one of the best records of last year.

I wonder what happened?
It's sort of a weird time to call it quits. The first album must have sold alright, and they still had lots of interest around them. Plus they just had all that lovely car advert cash.

never got them
and i tried
-
This is a shame. The debut was one of my fab
Albums of last year.

Really sad
I loved the debut album. Never has my opinion of a band changed so quickly as when I first heard that album all the way through, I went from thinking they were dicks to completely getting them.
Apparently it's not bullshit, but who knows really. The bass player writes really good songs though, so hopefully he'll do something. If it's true, then it's a shame they couldn't have just put up with the bullshit at least until they'd put a few more records out.
Haha and yeah, now we'll be faced with years of sanitised Wu Lyf copyists, starting with Holy Esque...

this is so rubbish
Seeing them in Glasgow was one of the best gigs I've been to in a while, changed me from being pretty uncertain of them to being a true believer. Their *sound*, in the production and stuff, is one of the loveliest things around, so shimmery. I'm well sad now :(

never really liked them
but i like that song a lot
-
create such a good atmosphere too
bellowing out We Bros along with a crowd of drunken Glaswegians is one of the best memories I have
-
Listened to a couple of their tracks a while back. Result: Meh.
Just listened to a couple to check that I wasn't being dismissive.
We Bros sounds like Mumford & Sons. Which is fair enough. I've no beef with M&S. The fawning over Wu-Lyf-not-Tang in comparison with Mumford & co. is cute.

I have no opinion
on anything

really like Go Tell Fire
I'm fine with them being a one album band though. More bands should break up.
-
Loved Go Tell Fire
Shame...great band. Amazing live.

anyone got a working link? Or a description of what it was.
Bit upset - a lovely debut and I'd have liked to have heard more. Suprised people are alluding to money men etc. Thought they'd side-stepped a lot of that nonsense.
-
Good album + Go Tell Fire
Good debut album so sad to see there won't be a second. I would not say Holy Esque are Wu lyf copyists though. Holy Esque are a lot darker and the guy enunciates more
-
their logo is practically the same and the singing style is VERY similar (but more accessible)
they're just like a watered down version of Wu Lyf really
-
exactly
they're still quite nice, but I know who I'd rather have around

The letter attached to that video
read like a Silver Mt. Zion song name.
