I started trying to find the perfect Flagitious Idiosyncrasy In the Dilapidation track and/or modern drum & bass/breakcore with that insane high snare they use these days but
who cares about competitive internet posting i'll just listen to grindcore/Current Value and get on with some work
-
I like Brian's work on Megaghost by Lightning Bolt
But maybe it's the sheer speed rather than the sound.
I also like the snare sound Aja by Steely Dan and on half the songs on The Remote Part by Idlewild
-
That grindcore snare sound is brilliant
Absolute fuck.

If we're going for great snare sounds per minute then this has to be a contender. Plus it turns out this song has something to do with twilight. Thanks for that youtube

Electric Lash — The Church
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9IRwVyQAc0&t=184
Apparently, the band now hate the album it comes from because of the drum sound.
Fucking morons.
-
earl palmer on cosimo sessions

Best snare sound, best overall drum sound, best 'drum face':
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=UWfmfgHXAfE#t=74sNow rewind and listen to the whole thing. It's wonderful.

They have to be infectious;
they're running all the way through the song! I love this snare from Richie Hawtin's Minus Orange http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq1ZYSuEnu8
-
I really like this sort of snare sound
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyxoQIQaogE&feature=fvsr There are probably much better examples, but this is the first that springs to mind.
-
Haven't checked any of those YouTube links
but if one of them isn't Devo's "Mongoloid" then this thread is sorely lacking
-
Spare snare
Live at home
Dundee a finest from 90s -
Lars Ulrich on St. Anger
