Well what else did you expect? It's completely insane.
they have a few good songs but it seems dead contrived most of the time.
outside of false jesii part 2
pitchfork calling the new one a 're-imagining' of False Jesii is a bit generous I think, it just sounds the same but less memorable.
In theory they should be my favourite band ever!
I absolutely love the video for False Jesii Part 2.
That's pretty much the most contrived band I've ever heard.
All I'm saying I suppose is horses for courses.
but I've heard things about them. Great record though.
You should, because I dunno. They're great.
I can't believe you think it's contrived too! Totally does not sound contrived at all, to my ears.
he doesn't rap about his pain or about abstract concepts or about being a badass or about goblins and orcs. It's just about normal life, pizza and being really tired. I relate to it.
note to self: don't write posts while listening to Action Bronson
Especially the really tired bit. And he sounds really tired. So tired that his face is all puffy. I feel that way all the time, so it's nice to hear someone moan and holler about that against some grinding riffs, which will inevitably make me feel like that even more so.
I think this shows that his usual live manner is massively affected which is okay on its own (people love Tom Waits!) but you can still have a stage persona and put your own feelings (?) into it and I don't think he does. I just don't believe him for the most part. And if you combine that with songs that don't really go anywhere a lot of the time...
i'm sorry guize
this is amazing.
can't wait for the new one. I would say more but "I'm spent"....bud dum boom tishhh
I don't like them quite as much as it seems everyone else does
I mean I like them just
They did little for me at the ATP Halloween gig and I thought King of Jeans was a record by a bunch of try hards.
Then they utterly blew me away at Primavera and now I'd have their past two albums as up there with my favourite records this centruy.
I'd completely disagree with their being contrived. I think it sounds close to how they want it to sound: layered in filth. they're not exactly re-inventing the wheel with their music and they're clearly aware of it. I'd say it was full off gross conviction - totally what the jesus lizard were channelling.
Great sound - lethargic, angry, filthy, cathartic. What is there not to feel or understand? Fucking brilliant band.
Matt Korvette is a loss adjuster.
His personal blog is rather good too.
more of the same really innit. fourth album, mix it up a bit chaps?
I love king of jeans. Their previous album was pretty good - had some outstanding tracks, but some average ones too.
Another song from the forthcoming album. Sounding good. Real, really gooooooooood.
