Dunno... something from Boards of Canada...
Kuedo?
if he's Scottish then he is instant top five for me...
I sware he's from Scotland
Lived all over the place tho, got noticed as part of Vex'd in Bristol and London but now he's mainly in Berlin I think. But I sware I've read he's from Scotland somewhere.

2. Arab Strap - Monday At the Hug and Pint
3. James Yorkston - When the Haar Rolls In
4. Momus - Tender Pervert
5. Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Yeah, I forgot Momus and decided that as great as Orange Juice are, the production of YCHYLF lets it down compared to the earlier Postcards versions.
I'm still the only person to include a Cocteau Twins album
You're all doing it terribly, terribly wrong
I love shimmer, I love floaty vocals
I just don't love the Cocteaus. I need to try harder.

3. Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters
4. Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Flight
5. Biffy Clyro - Infinity Land
for its size and population
Scotland really punches above its weight, when I think about favourite albums and bands a disproportionate number are Scottish. Some great choices above, but I think a top 5 is far too limited, especially looking at any period of time or genre.
um
Fire Engines - Fond (technically a compilation but whatever)
Josef K - The Only Fun in Town
JAMC - Psychocandy
BOC - Music
can't think of any other scottish bands I like
oh Mogwai - Young Team or one of them

XTRMNTR - Primal Scream
Psychocandy - Jesus and Mary Chain
Arab Strap - Week Never Starts Round Here
Incredible String Band - The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter

Weirdly missing out what is probably my favourite Scottish band in Mogwai.

The Rob St John and Adam Stafford albums are really excellent.
Mine would be:
Withered Hand - Good News
Kid Canaveral - Shouting at Wildlife
Sparrow and the Workshop - Crystals Fall
Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight
Biffy Clyro - Vertigo of Bliss
but there could easily be a place for Mogwai, BoC, arab Strap, Rob St John, Meursault, Take a Worm for a Walk Week and Hudmo.
gah, i should read what I write before I post.
Nothing special
1.JAMC - Psychocandy
2.Belle and Sebastian - Tigermilk
3.Boards of Canada - Music has the right to children
4.Primal Scream - Screamadelica
5.The Vaselines - The way of the vaselines
but this thread should widen my Scottish pallet
and palate
Do Incredible String Band count?
One of them is English but they formed in Scotland.
This is hard:
1. King Creosote - Flick the Vs
2. Primal Scream - XTRMNTR
3. Jesus and Mark Chain - Psychocandy
4. Mogwai - Young Team
5. Arab Strap - The Week Never Starts Around Here
I've tried to replace everything with The Beta Band's 3EPs but I can't take anything out.
flicking through this, i bet 100 broken windows wins

Life Without Buildings - Any Other City

The Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters
Biffy Clyro - The Vertigo of Bliss
Idlewild - The Remote Part (only just ahead of 100 BW)
Phantom Band - The Wants
King Creosote would easily be in my top 5 artists but don't think he's put together one faultless album yet
