Dave Sitek is producing the new Beady Eye album
I'm sure this will get some of you all worked up in "what the f**k is he thinking?" lather and I have to say its the most bizarre thing I've read all year but as an old Oasis fan and a TVOTR and It's Blitz fan I can't help but be a bit excited - as long as they get some decent songs written. What is this record going to sound like?

also I'm presuming somewhere along the line an autocorrect changed Dave Sardy to Dave Sitek
and it was missed and ended up too awkward to change
-
he's also been working with OhLand.
Quite looking forward to hearing the results of that.

Honestly wouldn't be completely surprised if they 'did a Horrors'.
<cue needy bedwetter making lame joke about what 'doing a Horrors' might mean>
-
to be fair, the last two TVOTR albums are as much a case of a band 'playing within themselves'
as the Beady Eye debut.

What's that phrase
that has the word "polish" in it somewhere?

If you're going to buy Vodka,
you're probably better off buying Polish Vodka

Hilarious Facebook comment
on the FB announcement: "Finally!"

Oh, you mean the Chinese proverb
The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.

Sitek's hardly a sacred cow though is he?
Fella's been turning out crap for a good while now.
-
Churning out mediocre music, for sure
but not anything that sounds like it could fit in with Beady Eye.
I think it's the musical mismatch that's a cause for surprise, rather than any clash of artistic integrity.

hasbeens of a feather...
on the upside, mad men starts this week

A dull Beady Eye song
But with a shiny Sitek horn section. Pretty much what you'd have expected then.
-
hahaha proper laughed at that perfectly rectangular soundform thing

If it wasn't for the whiney Liam vocal
this actually wouldn't be that bad, because of all the stuff Sitek has chucked on it.
-
I actually really like this.
Already better than anything on the debut.
-
Yeah, this is actually pretty fucking great.
At least they've taken a step outside their safety zone - if the rest of the album sees them at least doing that, then this could be really, really good.
-
When the vocal first comes in....literally after the first three syllables
I imagine the band just grinding to halt and Sitek piping in from the control room with a "Uh, wanna try that again Liam?" while Liam's all like "yeah, fuck knows what happened there Dave!".
But no, they just kept on going.
