Talk Show Host - Radiohead
Killer Cars - Radiohead
Man Called Sun - Verve
Warmer Than Fire - Ash
The Masterplan - Oasis
Honey Power - MBV
These things I Don't Understand - Coldplay
Shine - Slowdive
Born Slippy (original beats, b side to Pearl's Girl) - Underworld
Minky Starshine - Seefeel
Nothing Sweet - The Sundays
Boo! Forever - Boo Radleys
Aneurysm - Nirvana
Niagara - The Wedding Present
...my vote goes to Young & Lovely by Blur - still can't work out how that didn't make it onto Modern Life Is Rubbish
It's great: the b-side to Teardrop, I think? It's a Mezzanine-y retake of Eurochild from Protection, fact fans, with Daddy G doing Tricky's parts, and there's even a Horace Andy cameo! Like Massive Attack's entire career in one track or something.
I Saw Her Standing There
If I Fell
Day Tripper
Rain
Eleanor Rigby
Strawberry Fields Forever
I Am The Walrus
Revolution
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Don't Let Me Down
Come Together
Every time I hear it I'm amazed that a piece of near song-writing perfection was tossed off as a B-side. Not sure if it's my best ever, but it's up there.
Back in the day I bough Oasis Cd singles for the B sides, so probably one of them. Underneath the sky, the masterplan, going nowhere. It was like getting another Oasis LP every 2-3 singles, 4 tracks on each one in them days.
Er...
Radiohead - meeting in the aisle
or, if you count 'Feel' by Verve as a B-side, Feel
36
Of more recent times It's Deerhunter - Nosebleed
I always had a lot of love for Once In a While on the Ava Adore single.
Six by Seven - Get A Real Tattoo
35.
^this
except that I'm a mere 33
Mew - Wherever (New Version)
24.
Still the same as it ever was.
Vaseline by Elastica: the b-side to Line Up.
Doesn't count
Vaseline was an album track rather than a B-side.
Hmmm.
It was a b-side for 14 months before becoming an album track.
...at which point it was disqualified.
Unlucky.
Harsh.
I don't make the rules.
Manic Street Preachers - Prologue to History
the other b-side to Tolerate, Montana/Autumn/78 is also brilliant
they COULD have made such an amazing album around then I'm sure, they just, er, didn't.
The Manics have had a lot of good b-sides
'Pedestal' springs to mind...
The Early Years - I Heard Voices
B-Side of All Ones & Zeroes
I'm 44
I've got a real soft spot for Eels' Manchester Girl
so it's either that or Suede's Europe is Our Playground
Was that not from Broken Toy Shop
E's out of print second album? Or did he later release it as an Eels track as well?
All your lectures will become/Converted into static hum
Levitz by Grandaddy. Off Summer Here Kiiids. Almost bloody thirty.
Suede
Killing of a Flashboy
Top top tune.
Talk Show Host by Radiohead
Fucker by Eels a close second
How Soon is Now
The b- side so good they had to release it as a single.

everything's gone green
Classy choice
And excellent Fac catalogue recall. I had forgotten EGG's appearance on the b side of Procession
So many
Get a real tattoo is up there.
Erm... Arab Strap: Rocket take your turn, blackness, bullseye, trippy, girls of summer
Can think of a few mclusky, Underworld, Idlewild and FOTL crackers too.
But probably Rocket take your turn.
Static In The Cities, bt Hope Of The States
*by
HotS were a great B-side band
Angels Over Kilburn was their best for my money
Aquiesce by Oasis
Elastica. The b-side to Line Up was Vaseline.
Vaseline is\was a far better song.
A few to choose from
Talk Show Host - Radiohead
Killer Cars - Radiohead
Man Called Sun - Verve
Warmer Than Fire - Ash
The Masterplan - Oasis
Honey Power - MBV
These things I Don't Understand - Coldplay
Shine - Slowdive
Born Slippy (original beats, b side to Pearl's Girl) - Underworld

minky starshine is absolutely top class
played it yesterday - it's still awesome
:)
early seefeel had a sort of pulsey drone
That I think nobody else has bettered since. Polyfusia and Quique are impeccable records.
<3 Warmer Than Fire
it's just... perfect.
I thought Shine was an A-side, not B-side
It has even a music video
EuroZeroZero by Massive Attack
also Fucker by Eels
Tortoiseshell by The Boo Radleys
Troublesome Waters by Richard Hawley
Tyre Tracks by Unbelievable Truth
33
Came here to post Euro Zero Zero
It's great: the b-side to Teardrop, I think? It's a Mezzanine-y retake of Eurochild from Protection, fact fans, with Daddy G doing Tricky's parts, and there's even a Horace Andy cameo! Like Massive Attack's entire career in one track or something.
Also Massive Attack - United Snakes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHzDA0kBw2I
Mindblowing percussion!
Another vote for
Killer Cars by Radiohead. 2nd choice would be Easily Fooled by Pavement.
The Beatles -
I Saw Her Standing There
If I Fell
Day Tripper
Rain
Eleanor Rigby
Strawberry Fields Forever
I Am The Walrus
Revolution
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Don't Let Me Down
Come Together
I think they win.
day tripper
eleanor rigby
strawberry fields
& come together
were all officially double a side singles
I think they still win
I bought a box of old singles at a garage sale a few years back, and among them was Deep Purple's "Black Night"
From 1970, pretty average song, but this was the B-side and it's a fucking killer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P05qji8TNuY&feature=fvwrel
Black Night
Is way above average!
no Pixies?
Manta Ray - Pixies
Into the White - Pixies
2 of their best songs IMHO
A New Career in a New Town by Bowie
dunno if it counts cos it was also on Low, but for years i only knew it as the b side to Sound & Vision
The Cure — The Exploding Boy
b-side to Inbetween Days, which makes that just about the most perfect pop single ever.
Probably not my favorite, but still very good.. Brand New - "Flying at Tree Level"
in the heat of the morning
- last shadow puppets.
Pulp - PTA
b-side to Mis-shapes/Sorted For E's And Wizz.
The other song on the CD single is the live version of Common People from Glastonbury 1995. It's basically the best single ever.
Also, Tainted Love and I Will Survive were both b-sides first, and they seem to have done alright for themselves.
PTA is great
Seconds is probably better.
leave me alone
in a lonely place
hurt
1963
don't do it
player in the league
new order have had some good ones
but leave me alone is my favourite
My Dark Star - Suede
or Pearly by Radiohead
Back when I first started buying 7" pop singles
the b-side was usually just an instrumental mix of the A-side.
So on that basis my favourite is 'the German version of 99 Red Balloons'.
I've only ever bought about 20 singles.
From them, probably
dEUS - I suffer rock
Soundgarden - Cold Bitch
Soundgarden had some grea
Soundgarden had some great B Sides
She's a Politician being my particular favourite.
Death In Vegas - City Rub
Swervedriver
Zedhead
Laze it Up
Scrawl and Scream
Afterglow
The Ants had great b-sides
They were usually better than the a-sides
Beat My Guest
Whip In My Valise
Christian D'ior
Lady
Plastic Surgery.
Kingmaker
Freewheelin.
On the b-side of the Celebrated Working Man EP.
"Religion is a crooked liar
the last flames of a burning fire, barbed wire, funeral pyre,
To be freewheelin' is all we need..."
Beastie Boys - Skills to pay the Bills
Wave Pictures: Now You Are Pregnant
Every time I hear it I'm amazed that a piece of near song-writing perfection was tossed off as a B-side. Not sure if it's my best ever, but it's up there.
I haven't bought a single for some time
Back in the day I bough Oasis Cd singles for the B sides, so probably one of them. Underneath the sky, the masterplan, going nowhere. It was like getting another Oasis LP every 2-3 singles, 4 tracks on each one in them days.
Wildhearts - 29 x the Pain
Appeared on numerous best-ofs and live albums but I think it was originally just a b-side.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HfIQnDDL8o
hah, I was thinking, "sure that title is a Husker Du reference"
and then the first verse of the song...
You Know My Name (Look up the Number)
well, I loved it when I was 12, anyway...
Real answer
Cardiacs - Ideal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKqC9I3ypSw
Lemonheads - Paint
Rocket From The Crypt - Ciao Patsy
b-side of Born In '69
Engine - Neutral Milk Hotel
B-side to Holland 1945 right? (one version at least)
also, blur have a ton of great b-sides. tempted to go for 'Mr. Briggs' cos its better than anything off Leisure.
Prince - She's Always In My Hair
Depeche Mode - Sea of Sin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52nmHqf-FZY
Depeche Mode - Newborn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeBTsGkngj8
Both AWESOME B-sides!
MTV Makes Me Wanna Smoke Crack
Idlewild - Poor Thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=115BRvFpXpQ&feature=related
Also, not strictly a b-side, more an additional track on the greatest hits, but A Distant History by Idlewild too. Just about the best song they ever made.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtP6kbD_p-Y
A Distant History was a B-side on You Held The World In Your Arms, wasn't it?
As was No Generation which is one of my favourites (no Youtube video so here's a Spotify link): http://open.spotify.com/track/1U07ohpDytw2VDmxo37hQg
