Rocket From The Crypt
I'm so there
COME ON
http://www.avclub.com/articles/rocket-from-the-crypt-getting-back-togethermaybein,88285/
this is potential best news ever alert.
Yes.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
I have a strange follow-on to this message
A friend of mine really, really loves RFTC so I put a message on his Facebook wall about it, including the logo from the original post, on Sunday night. Unbeknownst to me, he had suffered a heart attack that evening and died on the Monday morning, to be precise two mins after my "yes"-based post above. I will be seeing them if they make it to the UK next year but it's really odd to think that he won't.
That is really sad.
3 people caring about this on DiS
depresses me.
RFTC are brilliant.
I care
i'm just upset that I saw them the first time round and I can't lord it over everyone anymore
I didn't think
they were particularly good when I saw them (RFTC tour).
they were gr8 in 2001
Group Sounds!!1
Apparently there's another All Systems Go coming out at some point.
:D
Sub Thread: Where to start with Rocket From The Crypt?
It's an obvious choice but
Scream, Dracula, Scream is perfect from start to finish.
Tempted to say in chronological order. You can see how their sound evolves over each album.
Paint as a Fragrance was before they had horns and is pretty raw sounding.
Circa Now! is when they started to introduce brass and it's a pretty heavy sounding album.
Hot Charity (which has been grouped with the Cut Carefully and Play Loud EP) is consistently excellent, and probably my favourite album of theirs. Plus, the song 'Shucks' is on it. :)
The State of Art is on Fire has been re-released as The Name of the Band is... and is mostly songs about setting yourself on fire. Well 2 tracks at least.
Obviously, Scream, Dracula, Scream! is a must. Middle, Born in 69, On A Rope is the perfect 1,2,3 punch opener. Also, when you read about how they wanted it to be all linked together in the linear notes, but the record label said no.
The self-titled is a decent start point also. It's more experimental in places and there's quite a few shorter, faster songs (I Know, Panic Scam) and has a poppier edge.
Group Sounds is with a different drummer (actually 2 different drummers) and is a cracking album. Also has a great opening combo of Straight American Slave and Carne Voodoo.
Live From Camp X-Ray isn't a live album and is only 10 tracks long, but it rocks hard, so hard they break the album at the end of the cd.
I won't mention the All Systems Go b-sides and rarities albums, as that's too much info already. :D
Sorry, overdid it a bit. You can't go wrong with any of it though.
I finally found a copy of Scream Dracula Scream last weekend.
A reunion sounds awesome.
Awesome!
Here's hoping another album is on the cards as well. I love these fuckers
OH MY FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I'M GOING TO PUT ON EVERYTHING BY SPEEDO AND PUNCH THE AIR ALL NIGHT
