2013 albums to look forward to
What's coming up next year? LET'S MAKE A LIST.
I am ridiculously excited about the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs. James Murphy's apparently worked on it too.
Also I'm guessing there's going to be a new James Blake album, and an Arcade Fire as well.

New Lady Gaga album at some point
New Bad Religion album at some point
CharliXCX's debut in February
should be a good year!
Vondelpark
Dutch Uncles
Ghost Outfit
ffs wrong place
and I forgot Factory Floor
Autolux
Future Perfect
best shoegaze record since Loveless. Let's hope for return to form.
don't know what you mean by return to form
I love Transit Transit just as much as Future Perfect, and if I'm honest, I'm probably more likely to put it on.
Everything Everything, Dutch Uncles and Biffy all in January
I'll take that.
CHVRCHES
Local Natives (wish it was this year)
Neko Case (just assuming it's next year as it's definitely being recorded but there's no date set yet)
Oh yeah and AlunaGeorge
^local natives
is there a date yet?
Not sure, there was a Pitchfork 'Update' interview with them the other day
and it definitely said the album was out next year.
Here it is - 'early next year'
http://pitchfork.com/features/update/8924-local-natives/
haha NO DRUMS
feat. Phil Selway sitting at his kit checking his phone
I'm guessing there'll probably
be a Burial LP next year too. Unless he carries on just doing 12s.
Also:
Four Tet
The Knife
Zomby
do we reckon The Knife will finally return? Any news suggesting as much? I'm sure I read something but can't find it.
I'd have thought
a follow up to Fever Ray is more likely than a Knife lp.
Don't tease me about The Knife!
Is this actually happening?
guessing you've seen this?
http://pitchfork.com/news/48226-new-album-from-the-knife-will-feature-light-asylums-shannon-funchess/
there's a date and everything.
http://pitchfork.com/news/48936-the-knife-reveal-album-release-date/
The Wrens
Sigh...
Yeah, right!
We ought to mass email them
maybe we could do some sort of Kickstarter campaign to force them to quit whatever jobs are getting in the way of them finishing it?
Foals
Phoenix
Ed Harcourt
The National
Frightened Rabbit
Glass Candy
Blanck Mass
Deftones (or is that this year?)
No Age (think I saw a tweet that suggested they're recording)
Nicolas Jaar?
Aren't we due a new Nick Cave & the Badseeds record? C'mon Nick, quit making heat-numbingly beautiful soundtracks...
pretty excited that The Blow have a new album in the oven
Can't wait to hear that. Paper Television was 6 years ago!? http://open.spotify.com/album/1igZYQYZLikVob2CnT4C3Q
Phoenix
Was expecting that November. Is it definitley next year now? Very excited how they follow up their success!
not heard anything
I presumed it would be out in the summer.
would be a shame if it came out in November, didn't make year-end lists, and then the band end up far lower down the festival bills next year than they should be.
Their web-site is still showing the same it did in May
I assumed that it would be summer too. I think a Jan/Feb release where it should get loads of attention should suit them best too.
I think the bands Virgin signed from France in 1997 have a habit of releasing lp's between Jan and March (Daft Punk, Air, Phoenix, Motorobass/Cassius...). Always assumed it must be the label boss' birthday around then!
talking of which...
DAFT PUNK!
I don't know what's going on with Daft Punk...
The last studio album was released in 2005 (I'm not counting the Tron soundtrack).
Is there a daft punk update yet?
Deftones is this year
Next month I think. Excited for that one.
Dr Dre - Detox!!
:'D
Avalanches?
Never going to happen.
Not with that attitude.
boards of canada..?
godspeed..?
This request for a new Godspeed album is funny, now.
it'd been long rumoured theyd been in the studio
then again so have the avalanches etc
BoC
will never release another album again!
weren't there some sort of rumour
that they were doing a double album? They updated their official site or something, which they only do when an album is on its way.
Super Furry Animals?
It's looking liek Pissed Jeans will be 2013 I guess now instead of 2012
Does anyone know if KONG are still alive?
Mmmm
Gold Panda
Sky Larkin
Cheatahs
Luke Abbott
Star Slinger
BUSY
Gold Panda & Sky Larkin
Yes plz
wichita fan then..
My Bloody Valentine
May as well say it, but not going to happen...
Apparently by the end of the year too !!!
Well I hope Kevin's not planning on too much port and cheese in the next few days
he's got a promise to keep...
...
:(
TV On The Radio
Deerhunter
Atlas Sound (?)
Mount Kimbie
Forest Swords
Following the backlash thread...
...I for one hope that TV On The Radio return to the heavy guitars and ominous moods of the old days and ditch the pop and funk.
this so much, but its just not gonna happen
Sitek is too set in his pop slick ways
Far too much noise, attitude and clarity
Relistened to RTCM in the car the other day. Brutal. Meh to Dear Science and I didn't even bother with the follow up.
Radiohead.
Depeche Mode
Chvrches
Helen Marnie (her debut album in March 2013)
Boards of Canada (probably)
Primal Scream
Leftfield (the only remaining member is working on their third album)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Goldfrapp
Kraftwerk (probably)
Robyn
The Stone Roses
The Joy Formidable (new album early next year)
Autechre
Delphic
La Roux (this year or next year)
The Good Natured
hang on Boards of Canada and Kraftwerk and Leftfield might all have albums out?!
Downgrade that BoC (probably) to (possibly)
at best.
Sadly, there's no real news on the next album - and I'm a fanboy who checks the BoC forum at WATMM every few weeks.
WARPAINT
Darkstar
On Warp records, looking forward to that after loving North.
Actress, Ghettoville if it dosen't come out this year.
VILLAGERS
Very curious what that's gonna be like.
I like the singles so far.
Nothing Arrived is great.
Vampire Weekend
or are they not popular around here? I'm excited in any case.
Even more so for Yo La Tengo, due early next year.
Jetplane Landing
it must be next year
DOOM said the new Madvillain was almost done
on a couple of occasions recently. But I wont hold my breath.
Is there ever going to be a new Joy Zipper album?
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4416423
or to see if bands people already like are releasing something soon...
:)
Oh bb, always getting concerned that people don't do things exactly the same way you do. Live and let live, bro.
Nosaj Thing - Home (January)
Still Corners (spring of 2013)
Their debut was one of the most underrated albums of 2011.
seem to be quite a few new announcements
anything new to add to this list?
Atoms For Peace
Heard it's coming in February
January 28th
Haim
i really like what I've heard so far.
hoping the class of 2010 all do follow-ups...
kanye
sufjan
joanna newsom
deerhunter
arcade fire
Boards of Canada.
Cymbals Eat Guitars
I suspect.
Vales' debut
Dillinger Escape Plan apparently have started cooking something up
Non confirmed but I'd like new stuff from
Bright Eyes
Ash
Hold Steady
Jetplane Landing
I've given up on The Hold Steady
increasingly coming to realise that Franz Nicolay was the beating heart of the band. They won't release another good album.
Nah, Nicolay wasn't even a full member on the first two albums
(or maybe he joined for Separation Sunday) it's all about Craig Finn although his solo album was pretty weak so not sure if he has lost it.
Although I think I might be the only person ever to prefer Heaven is Whenever to Stay Positive. I think it's a stronger album but Stay Positive has some great individual tracks.
His keyboards, backing vocals, sense of theatre and moustache
Had an impact on the band I never really appreciated till he left. Come back Franz!
That said, one mediocre album isn't enough to make me give up on them.
really come around to Heaven is Whenever lately
The Weekenders is one of the best things they've ever done <3
Totally agree about The Weekenders.
Don't totally agree about Heaven is Whenever being any cop though.
Zero
asymmetrical lads with the collective taste of a vacuum
oh yeah
Zero 7 probably, they started recording start of this year
Desaparecidos
*Crosses fingers*
Los Campesinos!
They've never gone 2 years without releasing an album, hoping they stick to this.
Sufjan
Cut Copy
Chvrches
Gaga
Owen Brinley
Guillemots
These New Puritans
Tokyo Police Club (hopefully)
Hoping Owen Pallett also puts out something, he's probably a bit busy with Arcade Fire though.
You mentioned the two Owens in one post
I'm ready to swoon already.
Let's hope.
QOTSA please
I thinkJosh Homme is doing his own thing
QOTSA is his own thing.
Janelle Monáe
Tegan & Sara
Charli XCX
AlunaGeorge
Black Sabbath
Voivod

Can't be arsed with the Azealia Banks album anymore. She's faffed about so much over the past year that I've completely lost interested.
*interest

When is that DOOM - Ghostface thing coming out?
Has it been shelved to next year? Or at all?
Holy shit I just remembered!

d'angelo
Joanna Newsom?
please please
i'm still working on the last one. very good, mind.
65dos should have a new one

i probably wont like either of them though. New albums by artists i already love always disappoint me. Always.
There's a new unsigned electronic music band, Automatic Writing
The song "Continuous" is really awesome: http://soundcloud.com/automaticwriting/continuous
It sounds like a mix of John Maus and The Knife. I'm looking forward to hear their album.
SLEIGH BELLS
!
Modest Mouse's new LP
It has to come out nex year... right?
Esben and the Witch - Wash the Sins Not Only the Face
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BT6bgYaw7_8
21st January 2013
Man or Astroman?
Add me to the Chvrches list
if the rest of the album is even half as good as The Mother We Share it'll be a treat.
CharliXCX
Phoenix
Delphic
Foals
Cut Copy
Guillemots
Gaga
Kanye
La Roux
Robyn
Arcade Fire
I'll take some cool Latin American stuff too, for obvious reasons...
Oh and if Daft Punk could hurry the fuck up that'd be great, ta x
Obvious answer is obvious
One of the most talked abour album of the year will be Disclosure's, of course.
Trying to fix this thread...
Not going as well as I hoped.
THE DISMEMBERMENT PLAN
Widowspeak
Almanac, their second LP on Captured Tracks - out January 22.

Suuns - 3rd March
loved Zeroes QC and the 12" that followed, really looking forward to this.
Ulrich Schnauss
Vondelpark
Autre Ne Veut
Really don't understand the fuss about CHVRCHES, probably just not my kinda thing I guess. I'll most likely be eating my words in 6 months time.
THE THERMALS
Iceage
Got a new one for february.
http://pitchfork.com/news/48615-iceage-sign-to-matador-for-new-album/

Jesus Deluxe
The Tamborines
The Flaming Lips - The Terror
and
Mister Lies - Mowgli
Danny Brown - Old
Most anticipated rap debut since that one that came out a couple of months ago. Can't wait to hear the Rustie collabs.
ASIWYFA - All Hail Bright Futures
Also, new British Sea Power and Eels.
And new Adebisi Shank at some point.
Helen Money (aka Alison Chesney) should be releasing a new album next year
via Profound Lore
well
Albums of 2013: nick cave, frightened rabbit, primal scream, atoms for peace, British sea power, horrors, savages, Foals, stone roses, and queens of the stone age
Mew
FRRRRRRRRIAGHTENEND RRRRAAABBBBIIITE
These New Puritans
New Album confirmed.
Maybe we need a rolling thread for release news?
YESSSSS

1. Joanna Newsom
2. Arcade Fire
3. Sufjan Stevens

5. Owen Pallett
6. Desaparecidos (it could happen right?)
7. The Joy Formidable
8. Robyn

Stick them up at six.
Also I'm just going to jag this everywhere
http://open.spotify.com/user/thesmallerpicture/playlist/273mW5LtEY8LEaufwIPjen
That Daughter track </3
New Grouper in February
http://thequietus.com/articles/11028-listen-grouper-vital
The National?
Ulrich Schnauss
Eels
My Bloody Valentine
Boards of Canada?
Radiohead?
I would swap all of these for the chance of Joy Zipper making another record.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds...
...And about bloody time.
Atoms for peace might just blow my mind in a similar way to 'the eraser'... fingers crossed
Midlake should have a new one on the way too
I love all three of their albums so far so don't mind what direction it goes in.
What an amazing year this is gonna be
doesn't mean any of them are going to be any good, sean
apart from beyoncé, obvs
beyoncé
Is she definitely releasing a new album then?
