quality track lads
ive been waiting for a band with the balls to make some proper rock music for once and this seems like it. Best band since Oasis.
-
Ah man!
I think they should tour with these guys

Nah, the Kaya's drummer hasn't been photoshopped in.
Though evidently both bands shop in the same branch of Burtons.

Weirdly I was just writing an article pondering why all UK indie bands that claim to be the saviours of music produce such bland shit.
Then this comes along.

when i saw the guitarist had a union jack guitar

They also have a union jack in their logo.

Has Liam quit Beady Eye? Because at 1:05 he seems to be the Kayas guitarist.
Amazing tagging btw *raises glass*
Actually worse than Design The Skyline and I didn't think that was possible.

i had both the line 6 spider and the marshall combo featured in this video.
thank you, DiS, for truly making today an epic day.

the entire song sounds like the pre-chorus bit of 'I Predict A Riot'.
-
Holy shit
I wasn't sure if it was a parody for the first minute or so. The singer looks like a young Gordon Brown, with a tongue piercing, imitating Liam Gallagher, so it's not all bad I guess - I always wondered what that would look like
-
Only
just actually listened to the song. Lyrically it's one of the worst songs I'v ever heard. Although if it wasn't for the AWFUL video, stylists etc etc then would just be passable as a usual bad song but nothing special in the turd stakes.

And I should know, I bought tons of that shit.

I've started watching them at work. I'm crying at my desk now
I think it's the Gordon Brown comment above that's tickled me so much. I'm getting funny looks

People really should start just bombarded the message boards of
these music industry saving bands with the Fast Show clip. I think we could stem the tide with a bit of team effort.

-
total
shite
-
Just opened a link to the song,
and it automatically played without me realising, and it simultaneously fitted with the end of a song I had on spotify. Fully believe in The Kayas now
-
Can't believe I missed them at Osfest 2011,
Shropshire's premiere music festival.
-
That's amazing. One of the worst reviews I've ever read.
OK so it's very early days for The Kayas but at least they're starting out with all the right directions, and hey there's plenty to like about these Shropshire lads already. They've got a great name for a start - any band named after a Bob Marley album has got to be sound as a pound (They are named after Bob Marley's album aren't they?) They've got youth, a deal of unabashed passion and a catch phrase - AV IT! (A band with a catch phrase whatever next). So MEK US AV IT Kayas! And for twenty five minutes or so they did, straight in the face, fast and furious, no frills, no fucking about and no pausing for breath. The Ruts made indie? Yeah probably.
-
and who still uses Hotmail?
Only the saviours of British guitar music, that's who.
-
Everytime his face pops up
I'm thinking "ders more to Ireland, dan dis".

Maybe in a few years they could write a classic.

jazz-ballet this'd this -
Yeah, I'm a little annoyed that one of the band hasn't opened about 10 fake accounts
claiming to love the music but definitely aren't in the actual band. That is where the real fun begins.
Royter-Hatfood this'd this -
Or is it that "we're a band for the people, not the DiS music snobs"?
Because given this single was released two weeks ago and nobody reading this had ever heard of them until last night, they've failed conclusively at that too.

all this thread needs now is the op/band member to comment

That's actually quite disturbing/disturbed
They should be proud, though. Plenty of shit self-promoters drift by with, at best, a cursory taunt. Here everybody (within DiS' confines) knows their name.

Just rereading that thread now...
... literally tears of laughter running down my face as I cower behind my computer screen so no one in the office can see. "In fact, if you imagine Floyd and Bowie having an orgy with Marvin Gaye next to the biggest wind turbine in Scotland you're not even close to picturing the exact experience of listening to a song like this." :D
-
Imagine if they'd never actually heard of Oasis and this was all a massive co-incidence
We'd all have to apologise to them.
Of course it's the complete opposite and there's a very good chance they've booked into Rooney's hair transplant centre to get their eyebrows joining in the middle

Having been active on numerous music forums for the past 20 years, reading this thread really amuses me as things dont seem to change over the years. I remember 20 years ago on rocknet (one of the very original music forums, pre-windows and cheap Internet) this same conversation about a band called Oasis.. oh and then one called Green Day. Funny they've both done well for themselves and any band just starting to make a squeak in the industry seems to flair all sorts of opinions, both good and bad. I have followed The Kayas for the past 2 years (having been introduced to them on the now defunct wohomusic) and am so pleased for them to be working hard to make a success. I've heard many of their tracks and I Have Been Waiting is just one song from a whole array of some blinding tunes. Good luck to them I say, and in a years time when they have (hopefully) broken through, I'll be reading about some other band being slated just because it's cool to dis something that may not be to their personal taste.

Arctic Monkeys?
I reallydon't tink that in, say, 50 years time the Arctic Monkeys will be remembered as being anywhere near in the same league as the Beatles (no one else will ever, most likely, be as big a force in popular music as they were), Pistols and Smiths. Or Oasis, if I have to mention their dreary name. Arctic Monkeys came in at the right time, with a young guy leading them who had a precocious talent for songwriting. But they're hardly up there with the previously named bands. As for the whatever-they're-called... No, there's nothing new there, there's no excitement. And they look like a bunch of dicks (not that that stopped Oasis).

The RI gave away the first 10,000 copies of their new album for free, don't think The Kayas would step up to save music like that. Oh wait, this isn't Two Thousand and Never, correction The RI gave away 113 copies of their new album 9,887 remaining. Better get in quick before one of them gets done for GBH against music and the infamy causes a download flurry.

In other sad news
The Front Rank have also disbanded. Their notes are absolutely amazing - it's clearly the singer writing them, he's pretending to be a journalist writing about them. Highlights include a bitter comment from the ex-lead singer and a rant about a studio which is eerily close to the Good Ship thread.

That is funny
I am so glad he shared this with us. Useful info.
