Now, I'm not talking about the 'You're Gorgeous' or 'F Word' era stuff, but I wondered if anyone else was a fan of those early home made 4-track albums?
I have always loved 'I was Born a Man', 'Bad Shave', 'Fatherhood', 'The Happiest Man Alive' and 'Dying Happy'.
I like the occasional lowish quality, the fragility that this lent the songs and the melancholy poppiness of them.
The reputation Stephen had at live shows also didn't help his image I suppose. I saw him at the Leadmill once and he just got wound up, shouted and someone in the crowd and then stormed off. Bit disappointing.
