Meet Me In St. Louis - Variations on Swing
I found a new appreciation of this album a couple of days ago (I've been playing it ever since), after having a post-hardcore urge and nothing else able to fill the void. This album leaves me exhausted after every listen, which probably explains why the songs feel so much longer than they are.
The rhythms displayed verge on the ridiculous, especially when the vocal line is in a different time to the rest of the band. These guys must've had to practice around the clock to get as tight as they are, which in my view makes it unsurprising that they split up after only one album. But, God, I wish they hadn't - a huge talent lost. Hopefully, they'll set up other bands to rival MMISL.
Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you. Care to return the favour?
