Which bands have the longevity to be selling out gigs in 10-20 years time...
In a year that's seen the reunion of Led Zepplin, tours from The Police, The Rolling Stones and Neil Young, one has to wonder: what bands around today are still going to be able to sell out 80,000 tickets at Wembley Stadium or headline the major festivals?
I have very little faith that many of the bands around today will have enough staying power to do it 10 years down the line and take issue with bands like The Kooks being considered a serious headline act for a major festival. How is it now that bands get to headline on the back of one album? 60 minutes and they're done!
Oasis, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, Muse and possibly Manic Street Preachers spring to mind as having what it takes to last another decade, but I can't imagine we'll be going to see the Kaiser Chiefs' reunion tour in 20 years time...
