Nirvana Unplugged is a bit shit: discuss
Am I really the only person who thinks this? Well certainly the only massive Nirvana fan who does?
I still have no desire to own this disc, yet I love the others. For one thing almost half the album is made up of covers which, fun though they are, is fairly stupid when put against a genius songwriter like Cobain. Only the Leadbelly cover is worth keeping in my view, as it really does something different and brings a totally new and sinister feel to the song.
That aside, the Nirvana songs picked are fairly obvious ones to do acoustically in any case. I'm not saying he should have done Teen Spirit...no actually that would have been interesting. I'd have just liked to hear some innovation.
Yet tonnes of people rave about this album whereas secretly I think it's for people who like Coldplay, don't really understand Nirvana otherwise and yet want to be 'in the club'. It's like the Nirvana album you'd put on for your mum. (Well I wouldn't put it on for my mum but then she likes QOTSA.)
*and breathe...*
