11th april - more good bands, etc
Hello. HELLO. Yeah. Hello. It's that time of the month again where I post about the next powpowpow night at 93 Feet East. We have 5 awesome bands playing. It will be fun, come.
Who?
Meet Me in St. Louis - MMISL have excited everyone from Kerrang to Rocksound to DrownedInSound. Their energy and spirit is headmessing, with the nearest reference point being At The Drive-In. Quite simply, they rock.
Cats and Cats and Cats - Dropping off at 93 Feet East to play for us before the support 65daysofstatic and Youthmovies, Catsx3 create brilliant post-rock, with the emphasis on rock and with added experimentalisms. Steve Lamacq eagerly said they are "gorgeous, in a ferocious kind of way." We concur.
This Town Needs Guns - You may have seen TTNG when they played for us in November. They impressed us so much we've asked them back. They play a sort of hardcore indie [whatever that is], with a peppering of emo, guided by the influence of Explosions in the Sky. They are unmissable.
Jonquil - Inspired experimental folk: irresistibly odd, crazily enjoyable. Drownedinsound have called them "achingly perfect". Yes.
Cruiser Chimps - Cruiser Chimps include Iain and Lisa from Bearsuit in their ranks. Influenced by Melt Banana and Lightning Bolt, their sound is fittingly awesome.
ALSO:
- PowPowPow DJ tag team
- Artists again exhibiting stuff. And showing animations between bands.
