the whole thing is a farce.

  • Can i ask you a serious question?

    Well, serious for me.

I'm not a huge cricket fan, but it seems to me that the authorities, either the countries governing boards, or the ICC, are scared shitless of the Asian nations. Why is this, or do i have it wrong? Pakistan in particular could probably shit in an umpires pocket and still escape scot free. Are people that scared of them playing the race card?

    • It's not the race card, though I suppose that features superficially

It's the amount of money they generate as a bloc.

    • That is the view of many cricket watchers...

Some people certainly feel that the teams from the subcontinent hold too much sway...whilst the governing boards of the Asian countries probably feel they don't have enough...

Some decisions made by the ICC and indeed PCB are beyond me altogether, see about a million instances of Shoaib Akhtar and a couple from Mohammad Asif.

  • It's odd that people are getting upset

about the reversal of this decision. It DOESN'T set any precedents. It is a one-off event, and the rules have now been changed to avoid a repeat incident.

    Holding is being melodramatic.

    • You do not return to the field of play, you forfeit the game, you lose it.

      I don't think it's odd at all...

If the Pakistan cricket team did the whole thing as a protest at allegations of cheating and, in their eyes, racism, then the result is an utter irrelevance. Winning is not the issue whatsoever. Nor is drawing, or losing.

But, in any case, surely the ICC have much more pressing matters re: Zimbabwe than the non-result of a test match which resulted in this due to a hissy fit, nearly two years ago?
