Bio
Many teens have been touched by Jeff Buckley's music. Lauren was one of the few he encouraged to sing.
Aged 17, she briefly played with September 67 and recorded her first EP, 'The chemist said it would be alright but I've never been the same' ( 1997 Pitch-a-Tent ). While preparing her first album with David Lowery ( Cracker, Camper van Beethoven ) and John Morand, she was signed by Virgin and the record 'Meggido' was finished with Ethan Johns.
She soon realized that her artistic aspirations and the commercial needs of the executives who signed her ( in the hope she became a teen indie Morrissette or a commercial PJ Harvey...) were not compatible and her second album 'From the blue house' was released on an indie label ( Free Union 1999 ).
Disillusioned by the music industry and deprived of her inspiration, she got back to what most of people her age do : going to University, studying dance, falling in love, discovering the world ( she briefly settled in Paris )...
With the return of her muse and a newfound maturity, she finally released 'Choreography ( 2006 Fargo ) a record that evokes Catpower, PJ Harvey, Laura Veirs, Beth Gibbons or Jennifer Charles ( Elysian Fields ) but is still completely personnal.
