Celebrating a childhood spent singing along to their parent’s record collection from the backseat of the family car, the song-writing brothers Neil and Ed Ormandy are the founding members of Rushmore. After 7 years of performing on the well-trodden UK gig circuit and a tantalising, yet ultimately ill-fated, glimpse of pop’s glittering prizes in Los Angeles, their determination finally won out one afternoon when they were discovered whilst busking in Leicester Square by Craig Silvey of Magic Numbers fame.
Their debut album on Mercury records echoes the laidback country rock of the Eagles and the rich, simple acoustic texture reminiscent of Crosby Stills and Nash or the Beatles, while sometimes drifting closer to the lilting, soulful balladry of Simon & Garfunkel, affirming the band’s desire to write classic and inclusive songs that will endure the latest fads and trends.
New single ‘Last Chance’ will be released in the UK on September 17th on Mercury Records and will be followed by their debut album River of Gold on September 24th.
