Galaxie 500

Formed at Harvard University in 1986 and named after a car, Galaxie 500 both predated and inspired many of the shoegazers of the late eighties and early nineties, with their expansive yet intimate slowcore.

Arguably their definitive record, 1990's This Is Our Music transpired to be their last, although 2004's Uncollected, on Rykodisc, reminded many of their translucent grace.

Singer Dean Wareham later formed Luna, and now pursues a solo career.
