Running a record label is like running amok, with your heart in your head, ears on the ground and eyes to the sky. Finding amazing new artistes is what we've done at Drowned in Sound for the past four years and our label is simply an extension of that voyage through the depths of discovery and a ruddy-minded belief in the music we love.
Today we officially welcome a new member to our family...»

This is the record for all those tearful Soulwax fans, it's for those who thought the Rapture were derivative and for them who got bored of Hot Hot Heat after their initial overblown saturation. The Faint have come up with the goods. Come hither and bust a move to one of the records of the year...»

Our hero is not some kind of God, or Dog, but he could be. In lieu of his next masterpiece, ’Non-Fiction’ is a collation of ‘pieces’ which Chuck Palahniuk (most infamous for writing Fight Club), our hero, has published elsewhere. These are the stories of Marilyn Manson, of Juliette Lewis, a day at the Testicle Festival... Book of the year?»

“[There] are three reasons they have for this – U2, No Doubt, and Eminem. All three are putting out records in October, and they don't want to have to dust ours under the rug. This happens in the industry sometimes. There are other reasons, such as we don't wash our hair and we need to take promo pictures.” - Conrad»

After August off to drink ourselves around the nations festivals, Drowned in Sound's Brave New Ideas night is b-b-back.
We have: visceral rock at its most splendid from Stoke-on-Trent's AGENT BLUE plus Muse-vs-Pumpkins-vs-Coopers combo of gushing samples and zooming guitars from Sheffield's AFTER THE SILENCE and Londoners MIRROR.SIGNAL.CRASH kick things off with some Dave Grohl-infested QOTSA, xanex-free At The Drive-In kinda thing... see you there?
And DiS readers can get in for just £3.»

The revolution will not be homogenized. What revolution? Only the one in our minds, whereby the mainstream is full of poets, subversive melodies and 'worthwhile' acts. Doorways (like when you help make this a top 20 single) from the mainstream to our scene helps numbers into shows, media attention/tastes and more people being affected by the music we love. Who knows, maybe good indies will stop going bust or being taken over by The Man, and quality acts won't get dropped before they've had their chance to develop and win over our hearts. Just believe.»
