So, all day you've been waiting to hear who will be playing Reading and Leeds 2010 and possibly debating whether you can be bothered to fork out for a ticket. The first chunk of acts have just been announced quite ceremoniously on Radio 1 by the excitable Kiwi Zane Lowe. Cutting the jibber to a minimum, here is a rough guide to who will be playing over the course of the three days in the form of an image.»
Scottish indie-poppers Camera Obscura have announced the release of their collaborative single with man of Sheffield Richard Hawley. Entitled 'The Nights Are Cold' and backed by 'The Sweetest Thing', the 7" sees Camera Obscura covering Hawley and Richard returning the favour by remixing 'The Sweetest Thing', which is taken from their 2009 record My Maudlin Career. It'll be released on May 17 through 4AD.»
Hey! This last month or so has really seen us spoiled with fantastic records. You could probably apply this to the whole of 2010 so far, too. We've been dishing out 9/10s almost like never before and y'know what? We like it.»
A solid start. »
"Absolutely sensational!" in the words of one Murray Walker. If you believe the rumours - which you'd probably be better off not doing - Carl Barat and Peter Doherty will bury the hatchet (really?!) and reform the once beloved Libertines, performing at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals.»
Right, so we've just published an interview with Black Tambourine looking at the re-issue of their definitive collection, this time in deluxe format. That's released through Slumberland today (March 29). Every track has been remastered and it also feature»
Super Brilliant Super Furry Animal Gruff Rhys has announced yet another collaborative side-project, this time with Brazilian musical trailblazer Tony Da Gatorra. The record is called The Terror of Cosmic Loneliness and I'd imagine that the title gives a fair indication of the sounds found within.»

You may have noticed the recent news that 6Music is to close. Plenty of groups have sprung up in protest, including this one with over 70,000 members. Impressive. There has also been a protest arranged outside Broadcast House, for quite obvious reasons. That takes place tomorrow at Midday and features a whole range of wonderful events. Well, a few anyway!»
Yeah, this has been floating around for a good few hours right now but due to a combination of factors (one of them being spending far too long on a FCC train sans internet connection and any available seats) we're only just getting round to it. But it's Friday evening and I have better things to be doing, frankly. »
New vid. More slo-mo.»
Swedish drum'n'vocal duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums have a new EP on the way, and along with it they give you a free track, too. One one condition - that you sign up to their label's mailing list, as is usually the way with these deals which is no bad thing.»
Jack White's prolificacy seems to know no boundaries. In the (just over) ten years that he's been releasing music we've heard SIX White Stripes albums, TWO Raconteurs albums and so far ONE Dead Weather record. That's a lot, and the final group in that list is why we're here, as they've announced a few more details surrounding their upcoming record, Sea of Cowards, which is released on May 10 through Third Man/Warner. »
Right, this may seem a bit strange and unconventional, but we didn't want to just stick the new Futureheads album review on the front page unannounced, without some kind of background information. Mysterious appearances are best limited to ones of a financial end. »
Scottish indie-pop legends Belle & Sebastian are to curate one of the ATP December 2010 weekends, which will be named 'Bowlie 2' for obvious reasons. Reasonably obvious, anyway.»
More Spotify based musical relevance this week, featuring Hot Chip, MGMT, Clipse, Foals, The Futureheads, The Magnetic Fields, The National and more!»
An absolute lorry-load of additions this time.»
Official avenues. »
Pretty self-explanatory, really.»
Earlier in the month we alerted you to Beck's upcoming Record Club which featured the all-star cast of Liars, St. Vincent and Os Mutantes. Sure, we weren't certain - or had any idea - what tracks they were going to cover, but we waited with baited breath. We then found out it was going to be INXS. »
Waiting for Wu-Tang records these days is a bit like waiting for your tax rebate. You're certainly entitled to it, you know you should get it, but you're just not sure when. »
Not wanting to bombard you with Three Trapped Tigers-related news but this is just how things happen sometimes. Following on from the news that they will feature on a DTTR compilation, news has just filtered through that they've got another, brilliant video out.»
Leeds-based independent record label Dance To The Radio are releasing a very special limited edition 12" in celebration of their fifth birthday, but also as a part of the upcoming Record Store Day. »
New York's noisy trio A Place To Bury Strangers have a new video, for 'Ego Death' taken from their 9/10 rated 2009 LP - Exploding Head. In describing this particular track, Dom Gourlay used the phrase "the band's penchant for carving industrial dogma into elongated slabs of white noise...", a turn which I like greatly. »
French favourites Phoenix are to release a free live album, to download, taken from a performance in Sydney, Australia some time in the not-too-distant past (via TwentyFourBit). Oh, it was earlier this month, apparently. »
More goodies from the Canadian collective. »
