Is there anybody else out there making classic, English pop that pushes boundaries as far as these guys? If there is, I'd love to hear from them.
This is the second single to be lifted from Field Music's second long-player, Tones Of Town, and somehow manages the trick of sounding both familiar and utterly, utterly contemporary. With nothing resembling a traditional 'chorus', this widescreen ode to loneliness packs in several distinct parts, each replete with luscious, ethereal harmonies. Why put everything into a few measly bars when you can spread out the quality over an entire two and a half minutes?
It's a crime that these guys haven't sold tens of thousands of records already, but for those familiar with their charms this is a fantastic way to kick off 2007.
