If the Arctic Monkeys are the new Oasis, Maximo Park the second coming of Pulp and the Kaiser Chiefs a northern reincarnation of Blur, then where are the Elasticas, Sleepers and Shed Sevens of this so-called Britpop revival?
Alright, so maybe you'd want to forget the last two, but if 'This Is It' is anything to go by, then Swiss trio The Delilahs should be banging on Ms Frischmann and co's door - if they were British, of course.
Muriel Rhyner's out-of-breath-after-running-a-marathon vocal, combined with stop-start riffs straight out of the Wire and Pretenders textbooks, ensure that this won't be forgotten about in a hurry. There's an interesting disco mix on the b-side too, which almost replicates Blondie's 'Atomic' in the way it connects guitars and dance beats for the club generation. Nice.
