For all the kind words bestowed on Giant Drag, their music hasn't quite matched all the hullabaloo of the hype machine to date.
Hearts And Unicorns isn't a bad record as long players go, but when its creators are mentioned in the same breath - let alone sentence - as the likes of My Bloody Valentine, PJ Harvey and the Pixies, one would (quite rightly) expect nothing short of breathtaking, groundbreaking magic.
Sadly, this isn't it. Sure, Annie Hardy can make even the most unimaginative of lyrics sound erotic and dirty - and at the start of the third track on this single, 'Pretty Little Neighbor', she informs us she's feeling "sooooo hor-ny..." - but there isn't that much more going on here really than on a Tanya Donelly inspired b-side. In other words, close, but definitely no king sized Cuban worth writing home about.
