Aww man, this shit is old news -* The Faint*'s time in the post-punk-funk sunrays has come and gone. That being the case, why does this still sound so sweet?
Why? It's the uncomplicated-ness of it all - the beats are primal and raw, the vocals appropriately desperate and debauched, and the overall effect is comparable to being licked across the face by an elderly Dutch hooker - immediately repulsive but kinda cool. No? Well, whatever - 'Desperate Guys' sluttily struts its way through its three-minute duration without a shred of regard for the day's approved musical styles.
A Zongamin remix offers some value for money, but - truth be told - there's not much point in Wet From Birth owners forking out for this again. Newcomers, though, are advised to check it out, even if it is a quick cash-in on The Faint's current tenure as Bright Eyes' backing band.
