_‘Yeah yeah yeah! 1,2,3,4!’_
If this is your kind of beginning to a song, then perhaps Planet of Women’s debut offering, 'Waking up the Neighbourhood', is for you.
For the rest of you lot, an at times embarrassingly mindless single will blast through your stereo for three uneventful minutes, then head right back onto your shelf, never to be remembered for its crazy ABAB structure or crucial five second guitar solo at the end.
Sorry Planet, but the song comes across as being far too standard saloon rock fare a la AC/DC that painfully reminds this reviewer far too well that Jet are somewhere out there, still selling albums. But who knows what lies in store for PoW? Lead singer Jade’s got some serious pipes, and their determined if tired sound may just be persistent enough to win over fans.
