Last seen ably supporting Interpol on their UK tour, The Silent League offer a very palatable form of bucolic psychedelia.
'Breathe' nods towards the 'Rev and Grandaddy with the merest hint of Floyd wafting. Once past the initial verse and chorus duties, the track's largely one constant crescendo, giving the impression of a band who only like 45 second snippets of other bits. The good bits.
Clearly a subscriber to Bigger Picture Magazine, 'Breathe' is as widescale as you're going to get whilst hanging on to a pair of acoustic guitars. It's an impressive debut, and it would seem that Mercury Rev would have that 2005 tour support sorted.
