Adem’s an odd name really, or is it merely a audible take on the South African pronunciation of ‘Adam’? No, didn’t think so…
The former associate of Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden ignores the dark path of the avant humm-side and strikes out with a quiet loveliness on this shuffling, steel strung ramble.
Taken from his equally soothing debut album, this has fragrances of Magnet, Badly Drawn Boy and the like, but lines like “I toasted marshmallows while you burned our bridges down” indicates a songwriting lineage of his very own. Gently captivating.
