‘Under The City’ is a racy, adrenaline-pumping four-tracker recorded in deepest Cornwall by four Scots and the production team previously behind Muse and Supergrass. With their sing-along choruses The Needles have more in common with the latter, latched on as they are to breezy power-pop compositions. It’s hardly life-changing, but tracks like ‘Teenage Bomb’ will soon become the soundtrack to many trashy house parties. Glorious, throwaway fun then from beginning to end, even if the whole experience feels as original as Gus Van Sant’s take on ‘Psycho’.
