Just what is it with The Used? They’ve taken the UK by storm. They’ve taken MTV by storm. They’re billed for The Astoria before their first release. But it’s happened so quick that those a little slow on the uptake (let alone those sad, regular observers of anything sbrns related) have returned from seeing **Stone Sour, scratching their heads as to who the heck they are!
Seriously, the kids seem so taken by them it’s as if Glassjaw *never existed. But then, Glassjaw have never written a song like _‘The Taste of Ink’_. Recorded by *Goldfinger’s John Feldman it’s a poignant number and undoubtedly the most lightweight track on their self-titled album. But while its' precariously poppy elements exemplify The Used at their most accessible it still radiates a powerful rush of adrenaline, fuelled by heartfelt lyrics and controlled by a mid-pace throbbing that leaves little room for vociferous screams and more for those wonderfully velvety melodies.
While 'The Taste of Ink' isn’t the best example of what to expect from The Used it is nonetheless powerfully infectious and truly refreshing.
