Mmm, I have a sudden urge to swap my Orange handset for a Vodafone. Why is that?

‘Can U Dig It’ is, without doubt, one of the finest indie singles of the ‘90s. A strictly one-hit wonder band. But a perfect single it was. An instantly recognisable guitar riff and baggy beats. It still sounds ace years down the line. It’s tuneful, it’s catchy, it IS a CLASSIC and NO LAUGHING AT THE BACK.

But I do have a problem with this. I don’t have a problem with its re-release. I don’t have a problem with the fact that the band have reformed on the back of it or that the only thing people know about the Mock Turtles is that the singer is Steve Coogan’s brother.

I have a problem with the fucking terrible and totally useless ‘remix’ Fatboy Slim has given it. It has none of Mr Slim’s identity to it. It just fucks around with a few extra bleeps and taking out the guitar in places. There is no point to it. Why mess with perfection? Bah, if somebody had done that to ‘There She Goes’ then there would be hell to pay.

So bollocks to this remix.
