Just A Minute. This Melys record got no publicity whatsoever. I heard it a month ago. The album's out in January. But these guys just havn't taken their chances. They won John Peel's Festive Fifty. And it takes them 11 months to release something new. This is ridiculous enough. But it's the fact that musically, they appear to be very much aware of the fact they're on a winning streak, for this is as poppy and misteltoe kissing session-related as you could ever want from an indie band.
With 'Chinese Whispers' they learnt to 'swirl' and Andrea Parker's ultra-soprano voice became the instrument that all their fans knew it was really. This is like a sequel to that aforementioned single. If the theory of bursting into floods of tears sitting on your bed after you've just been stabbed in the back worse than ever before, is the best way of getting it all out, well, damn it if this isn't the song that proves it. Andrea Parker is looking at the mirror the next morning, smiling and coquettishly at herself. And planning her next move, more charmingly than anyone else ever could.
