Strange really, in a releasing a single that is so undeniably pop, it really does seem like *Alternative 3 *are living up to their moniker. Tellingly, its a strange time for music.
Singer Justin Dempsey sounds like a cumulative blending of singers from Britpop's hey day - but mainly prime Albarn from the snotty Blur-era that encapsulated their first two albums. Indeed, it sounds like a classic, synthed-up 'Modern Life...' track in all but composer and name.
Second song sounds like a electronic version of the Foo's '_Learning to Fly' crossed with the Beach Boy's 'Barbara Ann_'. Essentially, that makes it sound like a wacked-out Super Furry Animals.
Not bad at all, and undeniably catchy, indeed, what Alternative 3 are offering is a refreshing diversion from the current guitar Valhalla/nirvana/purgatory that we currently exist in, but unfortunately they will probably have to plough a slightly more original furrow before they receive more wide-spread recognition.
