Oh Ash, let me count the ways that I love thee... No, sorry, too many. The band with the most under-rated second album in music history (and believe me, there are many) return with the precursor to their '_Intergalatic Sonic Sevens_' singles collection. This of course provokes two reactions; firstly "is that not the coolest title for a Best Of album ever?" (answer, yes) and; "Have they been around that long already?" and once again, the answer is yes. Don't take them for granted, they're not going to be around forever, and even if they are, they'll look pretty shit past 40, and surely, this gold seam of songwriting magnificence can't keep going for another 19 singles?.
The song? Well, brilliant, of course. A typically concise stomping power pop song with bags of atttitude, a verse as infectious as the chorus and a killer middle eight. With added girl-group-esque sighs and Ronettes-lite backing vocals courtesy of Charlotte (I presume), it's a life-affirming brew. And Tim Wheeler can say "c'mon baby" better than anyone.
