No Primal Scream! stop it, don't sound like U2, whatever you do, don't sound like U2...
Ok, I suppose it doesn't sound that much like U2, and after only a few plays you can dredge up that groove, that direction and a core that U2 couldn't even dream of. It isn't them, no, it isn't 'Swasticka Eyes 2002' either, and only clocking in at 2 mins 30 it's no epic, so what is it?
Well to start with, once again Primal Scream are employing a name producer to lend his sound to their output, this time it's Jagz Kooner. The upcoming album promises a whole bunch of producers all furiously at work over it, as demonstrated by the 2 Alec Empire remixes and one Kooner mix fronting as b-sides here in what are really just 4 versions of the same record with different producers, not so much a few remixes, but 4 full versions of 'Miss Lucifer', each looking at a different mind.
Hey, come to think of it I haven't really ever heard a Primal Scream song before, handed to producers to stamp on as they all are... I mean look, they even have Kevin Shields turning up on loads of their tour dates to 'produce' their live sound, it's not their fault the a-side sounds like U2(ish) blame Jagz Kooner, listen to the Alec Empire re-mixes instead, that's closer to what this should sound like.
