Though it's unlikely 'Silent To The Dark II' is Tom White's cooing tribute to his elder brother Alex, this is still a cockle warming treat none the less.
It would be churlish to deny The Electric Soft Parade this single. A slight re-working of their debut single, it is now removed of the six minutes of swampy noise that tagged the tail end last time round. And all the better for it, as it is now possibly the perfect example of an indie-pop sing-along. It's searing chorus bearing the lryic 'When I needed someone to talk to, you were the only one around.' is as greatly infectious as it is touching. The (in a way) standout track from their patchy debut album, it deserves to have at least five weeks at number one, though a top 40 placing isn't even certain. Tsk tsk, record buying public, tsk tsk.
