Tackling somewhat precariously the murky waters of ska pop, Glasgow’s Dogs Die In Hot Cars have the dubious honour of sounding like the bastard offspring of Astrid and Symposium on debut ‘I Love You ‘Cause I Have To’. Luckily they ain’t forgotten to insert a stickleback-crunching chorus and thus manage to turn the tables in their favour.
So, yeah, with a bit of luck this will invade the lower regions of the chart on Sunday and give the band some much needed exposure. Kudos also for a song mentioning Catherine Zeta Jones on the b-side (‘Celebrity Sanctum’) and for their singer who sounds like he grew up wailing along to Associates records. Spiffing.
