Think of a subtle blend of Green Day’s *classic riffs *and Blink 182’s, erm, classic riffs. Remove an element of puerile flippancy from this music and add a touch of *emotion *akin to the current batch of post-hardcore bands, á la Rival Schools. *Alkaline Trio *are what you might make from this concoction. There are three of them, and they don’t dry your skin how some other bands can. Probably.
Based largely around one absolutely killer riff, ‘Private Eye’ continues to bounce and growl it’s way around your stereo and then chug rather solemnly out into your ears. Boy these guys know how to take a *hook *and not so much let it catch onto you but hit you square on and then get hammered in with something really, really heavy. Like an enjoyable brick. You will be clicking, nodding, tapping, whatever, after seconds. It’s pop punk, except when they say “I love you”, *Alkaline Trio *mean it.
