The US punk-rock "newbies", American Hi-Fi are back after their debut chart hit - 'Flavour Of The Weak' with a new song entitled 'Another Perfect Day'.
Recently it seems that just about anyone with the ability to play a few basic guitar chords, string some words together in a fashion that is vaguely coherent, and rearrange their first catchy tune about 10 - 12 times can create a commercially successful punk-rock album... Well, so long as a moderately attractive and undoubtedly pretty lead vocalist fronts them.
From what I have witnessed so far, American Hi-Fi seem to be working this formula to the bone. While 'Another Perfect Day' isn't exactly in similar to 'Flavour of The Weak', it _is_ an extremely catchy tune. You can bank on the fact that it will get excessive amounts of airplay on Chart and "Alternative" Music TV/Radio stations - God knows it already has! Naturally this will continue until the point where it stops actually being safe to play, due to the vast quantity of complaints being sent to the offending music outlets, warning about threats of mass suicide… I expect this shall occur somewhere around ‘Another Perfect Days’ 5th week in the top 20, and its fifty thousandth American dollar in profits.
Still, whilst American Hi-Fi are certainly not going to be breaking down any new musical boundaries with this latest contribution to the music scene, they have created another cute little vivacious pop tune that will have us humming along on the school bus/driving to work (that is assuming you’re not yet bashing your head repeatedly against the steering wheel from over subjection!).
Another Perfect Day is just another one of those songs that is really distressingly annoying - but somehow, deep down, you can’t help but like it.
