As sceptical as I was when I first listened to this - Forever Until October’s debut 3-track EP - I was ready to look past their driving emotional emo-core rhythms & dismiss them as Hundred Reasons mark 2. Because it’s got to be said FUO do sound a lot like ‘em before they opted for a more (how shall I say this without mentioning At The Drive-In?] angular, jumpy approach.
However, FUO have persued HR’s alternative avenue by creating a powerful drive of emotion which gushes around you and swallows you in a wash of beautifully-crafted post-hardcore Boy Sets Fire-isms and sincerely delivered Liberty 37 melodies.
Title track ‘Perfect’s stop-start rhythms & jagged dual guitars perfectly accompany Phil Darroch’s gifted vocal croons in the refrain ‘I’ve said so many times I won’t be long’. The well-designed & impressive artwork in the sleeve also serves as a perfect accompaniment to the music and the lyrical content.
The UK is currently experiencing a surge in innovative dynamic emo-hardcore and Forver Until October will be riding the wave which will eventually hit the shores of the music-buying public very soon!
