There must be an automated press release writing machine somewhere in the music business, occasionally it makes little errors. Sometimes dull records will be called "fantastic", slagged records will be called "acclaimed", and "national tours" will have consisted of a gig in London and Glasgow. But something has gone very wrong here. Manbreak’s release says things like "inspired by Rage Against The Machine" and "If the (last) record had come out now…with Limp Bizkit taking over the nation, things could have been very different ", no doubt implying they would be "fantastic" and "acclaimed" having done many "national tours").
So why does "Dark Age" sound like Del Amitri crossed with Steven Gately’s "New Beginning"? This does not "rock", this doesn’t even "roll". It plods, wandering around sunny hills with a rainbow strapped acoustic guitar around it’s neck. They’ve toured with Live apparently.
Who, incidently, only ever got close to "rocking" once with "I Alone".
