Sometimes, a record comes along that seems to exist purely in its own little bubble; seemingly no history nor hype; just utter beauty.
For the record, The Radio Dept. have actually been around for nine years in their native Sweden, but only kicking out in their current guise a few years ago. Part of the premier Swedish indie label, Labrador, this is the preceding single to their long player ‘Lesser Matters’.
But that’s for another article. Let us concentrate on three minutes of gossamer, hazy pop that has that impeccable beauty the Scandinavians always manage to achieve. It sounds like Kings Of Convenience with a fuzz pedal going all velvets on a four-track. What it really reminds us of is a Scottish oct-tet called Hooker’s Green #1. But that means very little to very few. Sadly.
Regardless, we can’t recommend this record strongly enough, nor the soon-coming LP.
