Dublin trio The Colours aren’t about to spearhead Ireland’s rather ace burgeoning underground scene, no arguments. But there’s more than a slight chance they may jump the queue, JJ72-style, in breaking out of their homeland into, whisper it, commercial territories.
Soaring atmospherics that bring to mind some panoramic commercial for a holiday across the Irish Sea are coupled with Mark McLaughlin’s high-pitched but never painful voice. And it all sets off the kind of inch-perfect production indie bands everywhere strive for.
There’s a tiny touch of Lambchop’s grandeur topped with James Dean Bradfield on a day trip to Mercury Revsville – on this evidence, record sales will be forthcoming.
