I somehow get the feeling that if *Monsters In The Attic *had emerged three or four years ago they would have been a nu-metal band. No offence guys, but that big 'ol *Korn *riff in _‘Silent Film’ _doesn’t really help your case much.
However, a nu-metal band they are not, and instead they craft a much more vicious, technical style that’s more in tune with Glassjaw’s tumultuous angst-venting than the constipated bleats of yesteryear's metal tribe. But although there does appear to be some cool vocal melodies somewhere in here, the impression is that vocalist Patch likes hearing his voice too much to locate them.
_‘See You In September’ _is probably the best of their efforts, thanks to a nice guitar-heavy drive, but if the rest of the band can wrestle him away from his emo-core tendencies I’m sure their sound, and their fan-base, would develop considerably.
