The Fades have been going barely a year yet they're already veterans of the "Steve Lamacq likes us" brigade. Musically it's well honed garage rock without the lo-fi trappings. There's a bit of early Mansun here, some Make Up, and the feeling they should be based in New York rather than Greater London. Track one is a fierce opener whilst the follow up takes on the epic rock track challenge, adding supermarket checkout effects when you're least expecting them. Was that a flurry of Muse type guitar hysterics at the end I spotted... The final track is a more balanced affair with it's conventional song structure and little instrumental breaks. Possibly the most Hives of the tracks on offer. Overall, pretty good stuff.
