If the worlds of music and TV crime fighting were to ever collide, Swiss duo Colombo would be aptly named to seize the lead role. Alongside their detective compadres of Bardo Pond under the guise of Kojak and perhaps a poorly cast Mogwai as wheelchair supremo Ironside, they could use their post-rock powers to clean the streets of brain dead pop and it's evil allies...Or something like that... This four track demo has tortoise like pace and rarely gets loud enough to rouse a sleeping baby, but it's this subtlety that makes it a real pleasure to listen to. Title track "Unless You Love" features delicate whispered vocals in the vein of a significantly sobered Aidan Moffat. "Testimony" and "Bauten" both have somewhat unconvincing beginnings, opening with what sounds like a kid in Dixons having a play about with the keyboards, but these are the only low points that are quickly remedied, with "Testimony" growing into an almost aching two minute masterpiece. Colombo tag their sound as "music you can sleep to"; but this is definetely worth staying up for.
