"Yeeshk" - Mooncat. (Info: www.moonkat.co.uk)
For the first two songs this is punky indiepop. Moonkat are enthusiastic though not particularly original, sounding a little like Angelica circa 'Teenage Girl Crush'. Wavering female vocals half sing over fuzzy chords and cheap slightly unoriginal riffs. It's not that they're bad, they're not, it's just there's a whole lack of "oomph" (for want of a better word) about this. The indecision over what they want to be is all to clear as well, the final track sounding like an extended jam from a stripped down Mansun. If the pop songs get either wittier or more charming they could be onto something. For the meantime though this is simply acceptable bedroom based bluster.
