Björk - Vulnicura
If Björk’s last two albums were impersonal voyages of artistic license and collaboration, Vulnicura is deeply personal and so much more rewarding for it»

Bjork returns with her ninth album with production by London based Venezuelan producer Arca. It's a complete heartbreak album and an extraordinary work of art. Across nine, soul-scourging tracks she confidently deploys a blend of elegant, avant-garde string arrangements, electronic beats, ecclesiastical harmonies and deeply distorted vocals to explore the strange contraflows of love, sorrow, strength, fury, nostalgia, confusion, defiance, despair, hope, grief, pity and spite that she feels at being 'shut out' by the father of her twelve-year-old daughter. The mood is summed up by the ten minute centrepiece 'Black Lake', an impossibly desolate post-mortem picking up the bones of a failed relationship. It's Bjork's saddest and coldest album yet utterly beautiful.
