heartbreak inspired second from chamber-folk minneapolis quintet. 'who needs who', the new album by dark dark dark, is a stirring and rich body of songs that sees the band breaking new ground, and settling into the strengths of a quintet that has worked incredibly hard, both on the road and in their personal lives. there are eastern european influences here rubbing up against americana ones. there are spectral interludes and moments of muted drama. there are backing vocals that sound like a balkan choir. fans of beirut and grizzly bear will find plenty to appreciate in this chamber-folk six piece.
