Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, A compilation of simple and plain guitar riffs and pointless lyrics or the best album of 2011? These are obviously the two most extreme opinions, but are they that far from the truth? Modern brit rock bands have never been the same since the birth of Oasis back in 1991. So it was devastating but somewhat unsurprising when the brothers conflicts lead to Noel leaving the band back in 2009. Could Noel bring out a solo album without the guidance from the ‘Spiritual embodiment of John Lennon’. Apparently that’s what Liam believes he is. I know! Crazy, right? But besides the point. Noel’s first single came out in July 2011 with some very good reviews. Could the fight for who is the better brother be coming to an end? In October Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds was released to the world, with a unanimously positive reception.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds made it straight to number one, beating Liam for the first and possibly the last time. The album opens with ‘Everybody’s On The Run’. A minute long instrumental intro sets up the scene for this dramatic and captivating song. Combining this with Noels inspiring lyrics I fell it makes one of the best starts to an album I’ve heard. If you take one thing to remember from this review it would be, listen to this song! This album had some of Noel’s best work in it, making it hard to pick out the best songs. But If I had to choose, then I’d recommend ‘The Death Of You And Me’. ‘The bottom of a bottle, is every man's apostle, let's run away together. You and me, forever we’d be free, free to spend our whole live, running’. What does that all mean? I could make an educated guess, but why take the fun out of it. Give the album a listen and I’ll leave you to make up your own story. “Stunned that something simple could be so good”.
